Healthy Lunches

To promote the well-being of our pupils, we promote a healthy eating policy.  There is a “fruit break” at 10.40-10.50/10.50-11.00 when the children may eat some fruit and have a small non-fizzy drink. Remember to tell your child specifically what is for small break or ‘little lunch’ and what is for lunch or ‘big lunch’.  Children are initially inclined to eat all their lunch at small break and are hungry by lunchtime. Ensure your child has a healthy lunch: sandwiches, fruit and a non-fizzy drink.

As we are an environmentally friendly school, Children are encouraged to have a lunch box and a sports top beaker for their drink.  We don’t encourage tin foil or cartons. The children take all their left over lunch home with them. This helps you see exactly how much your child is eating every day. You can find images of our recommended lunch items in our Junior Infant booklet and in our virtual tour.
